A Trestle Custom Garage converted into Rustic Barn in Bellingham, MA

Our client, Jack, had a dream of adding a classic New England-style barn to his Bellingham property and was researching the best resource to understand his vision. He wanted to partner with a local company to provide complete project services including design, permitting, framing, and interior finishing, including all plumbing and electrical connections. Jack visited our Bellingham Design Center where we listened to his ideas and collaborated on the right solution to match his vision. Not to be overlooked, Jack’s son had an upcoming wedding and we were on a deadline to have this structure ready to host the reception celebration!

We visited Jack’s property, considered the many ideas he had for this ideal barn, and sketched out possible designs to review. Once we completely understood his dream, we recommended a Trestle Custom 40×40 Garage that would be modified into his dream colonial-style barn. Rather than parking his vehicles inside this converted garage, Jack wanted an insulated, temperature-controlled living space, where he could enjoy family gatherings, parties, and host functions and community events.

The many features and special details within Jack’s structure are numerous, right down to the farmhouse-style light fixtures, making this collaborative project one of our greatest successes!

The natural wood siding on both interior and exterior surfaces makes this barn a perfect accent to his already beautiful property. Custom solid pine sliding barn doors make charming entryways for guests. Facing his backyard, the 12×40 lean to porch is a cozy spot to gather in the shade and enjoy the view. The spacious second floor loft area has extra storage space and is the perfect spot for some privacy or just hanging out with friends.

The barn was completed in time for Jack to host his son’s wedding reception. In addition to celebrating on that special day, Jack also makes good use of the open floor space to host events, parties, barbeques, and possibly just help friends needing a welcoming spot to gather.
