Himanshu wanted a garden shed that his wife could use for cultivating plants. He came to Outdoor Personia with a definite idea of what he was looking for. It was important for the structure to have a lot of incoming light and wanted the structure to be a cross between a greenhouse and a shed. The process began with a discussion about which aspects he felt most important to both him and his wife.
He wanted a portion of the structure to have a clear polycarbonate roof, a large window area below, a loft area for storage, a set of double doors with large glass panels and an additional set of solid double doors for easy access to the storage area. We talked about space and determined that the best size to accommodate their needs would be a 10×16 structure.
With limited access to the yard, the structure would need to be built on-site. With both ideas and needs identified, we created a hand sketch to help them visualize the structure. About one-fourth of the floor space received the polycarbonate roof with a full wall of windows from the roofline down the front of the shed.
We incorporated a loft at one end for added storage and procured two sets of double doors – one with glass panels. We matched the vinyl shed siding to the manufacturer and exact color of his house. Six weeks later we arrived, installed the stone foundation base and constructed his shed. In just a short time, the shed was finished just as Himanshu had envisioned it.
