Susan and her husband own lakefront property. They wanted to take advantage of the beautiful lakeside view by building a large patio with a pergola. Having built a shed with us the previous year, they came again to Outdoor Personia to discuss their needs. As we talked about how they would use the site, it became evident that they wanted protection from both the sun and the elements so they could relax in any kind of weather.
The site presented some technical challenges. It was set several feet down from the street above and was going to have a set of stone step to go from the street level down to the lakefront area as well as a stone wall along the back of the patio. Our solution was a 14 x 20 lean-to style pergola set with the stone wall as its backdrop providing both sun and rain protection. Working with their hardscape contractor, we were able to ensure foundation footings could be installed before the hardscape was completed.
