The Outdoor Personia Days of Charitable Giving – July of ’24!
This year, the Outdoor Personia team dedicated every Tuesday in July to our annual volunteer days, focused on serving those in need within our community. We’ve connected with several individuals and organizations that we believe could greatly benefit from our support. By setting aside this mid-summer time, we’re pausing our usual work to share our time, talents, and treasures with our neighbors.
To help fund the purchase of necessary materials and resources, we held a June yard sale to support our Charity Fund, which turned out to be a great success! We then kicked off our first July charity day in fellowship and captured a great team photo. Our staff was then divided into three teams, each assigned a variety of charitable tasks to accomplish. Whether simple or complex, every project was met with enthusiasm by team members who were eager to contribute to helping our community friends.
One of our crews took on the challenge of restoring an aging stairway and deck. The wood was rotting and had become hazardous to use. After reinforcing the structure, power washing, and applying a new stain, it looks like new again!
Next on our list of projects, we had the privilege of repairing an aging wooden deck for Reverend Steven, affectionately known to his parishioners as ‘The Rev.’ This project was a collaborative effort with the exceptional team from Straight Ahead Ministries, and together, we transformed the deck into a safe and beautiful space. The Rev’s gratitude and the final result made all our hard work worthwhile.
“In the same way, let your light shine before others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in heaven.” Matthew 5:16
At a different location, we helped Brian, who faces mobility challenges, by enhancing the safety of his home. We installed a sturdy handrail by one door and added a new raised concrete step with a support rail at the front entrance. Now, Brian and his wife, Annie, have a safer entryway to their home.
Possibly the most challenging project was at the home of Murial where we needed to dismantle an old, unstable deck and stairway made of wood, concrete, and brick. The Outdoor Personia crew eagerly took on the job, skillfully wielding sledgehammers and power jackhammers to remove the stonework.
The result is a stunning wood-framed deck and stairway, crafted by our amazing Team, providing Murial with a beautiful and safe entrance to welcome her visitors.
Once more, the Outdoor Personia team has demonstrated exceptional commitment to helping several neighbors in our local community, embodying our core value of Serving Others. A kind thank you note from one of these recipients puts added meaning to our days of service: “Your staff did a wonderful job repairing, restoring, and replacing the wood in the front of my home. Thank you for your kindness and abundant generosity.” Jeanne G.
Do you know of anyone in your community who could use some assistance? Periodically, we are proud to offer our services to our neighbors in need so please feel free to get in touch with us and tell us your story.
